Hiring the right people is crucial for a GP practice to provide great patient care and run smoothly. When you choose the right candidates, it helps create a positive team atmosphere, keeps you on the right side of the law, and protects your reputation. In the long run, good recruitment practices also ensure the financial health and lasting success of your practice.

This workshop will give you everything you need to know to recruit effectively for your practice.

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose of recruitment and the recruiter’s role
  • Write an effective job description and person specification
  • Create a strong job advert and advertising the role – where, how?
  • Shortlist candidates for interview – methods, documents, who should be involved.
  • Know more about The Equality Act 2010, discrimination, and unconscious bias in recruitment
  • Write great interview questions
  • Conduct an effective interview

 

Workshop format

The format will be informal and participative – everyone has an important contribution to make to the discussions.

A typical workshop will cover:

  • Management theory and research input from the trainer
  • Learning from our shared experiences
  • Small group work to discuss and share ideas

Zoom joining instructions will be sent as part of the meeting invitations unless the organisation prefers to use its own video conferencing facility.  Copies of the slides will be sent out after each workshop.
